Personality vs Individuality - Reframing Your Perspective

Updated: Jun 4

When I searched the definition of the words personality and individuality, they are one in the same and are often used interchangeably. But what if they are not the same? What if they are very different?

In reframing your perspective, what if you considered Personality to be your external self - who you present to the world. The part of you that is changeable. The part of yourself that is often judged to be agreeable or disagreeable to others.

Your personality can be a paradox to your true self.

To further explore the idea of reframing, what if you considered Individuality to be your authentic self - the part of yourself that distinguishes you from everyone else. The part that makes you unique. The part that never changes, but can be cultivated.

Cultivation can happen when you take steps to understand why you feel the way you feel, why you behave the way you do and why you have the thoughts you have. It can happen through listening to the small voice you might hear when you are still. Being present. Allowing experiences and feelings to move through you, rather than ignoring or pushing them aside.

What would it mean to cultivate and take charge of your personal growth and have your individuality shine through as your personality?  Both essentially becoming one in the same, reframed in a new light.
