What to Expect As A Client

  • Starting therapy can feel nerve-wracking. That's okay! Therapy is a safe space to be yourself, even your nervous self. We'll work together at your pace to find relief.

  • Feeling unsure about who to choose for therapy is common! Here's how to decide if we might be a good match:

    1. Explore my website: Get a sense of my background, philosophies, and specialties.

    2. Take our Client Survey: Answer survey questions to determine if it's necessary to move forward with a free, 15 minute consultation call.

    3. Phone Consultation: Ask questions about my approach and how I work. Discuss your concerns and see if my ideas resonate with you.

    4. Consider comfort: The initial sessions are like "trying on therapy." See if you feel safe and heard.

Ultimately, finding the right therapist is a personal decision. Trust your gut feeling!

  • It's completely okay if something feels too difficult to discuss right now. Therapy is your journey, and you set the pace.

Here's how we can navigate that:

    • Acknowledge your feelings: We can talk about your nervousness about opening up.

    • Respect your boundaries: You choose what you're comfortable sharing each session.

    • Work at your pace: We'll gradually explore topics as you feel ready.

  • Our first session is all about getting acquainted! It's a relaxed conversation where you can share what brings you to therapy and ask any questions you have about me or the process.

    Here's what you might expect:

    • We'll discuss your current challenges and goals for therapy.

    • I'll ask questions to understand your background and experiences.

    • You'll have the opportunity to ask me questions too!

The most important thing? Finding the right fit! If you feel comfortable and heard, we can discuss scheduling future sessions.

  • It's natural to wonder how long therapy might last. The truth is, it depends on your unique goals and needs.

    Here's what we can expect:

    • Early progress: Many clients report feeling more hopeful and empowered within the first 3-5 sessions.

    • Variable timelines: Some clients achieve their goals in 6-12 weeks, while others benefit from longer-term therapy.

    • Collaborative approach: We'll work together to find the pace and duration that best supports you.

My goal is to equip you with the tools you need to thrive, both in therapy and beyond.

  • CBT is a therapy approach that teaches you to identify how your thoughts and feelings influence your actions. This empowers you to manage stress and build a more fulfilling life.

  • Integrative Wellness combines traditional therapy with complementary approaches like mindfulness and nutrition to address the whole person – mind, body, and spirit.

  • We offer Online Therapy to adults who are 20 y/o +.
I am certified in Virginia, Texas, and South Carolina.
I currently accept Aetna, Cigna, and Optum (UHC) insurance.

  • A therapist + client fit is key. First, take our Client Survey. The pre-screening survey is designed to see if setting up a free, 15 minute consultation call is the appropriate next step. After the survey has been submitted, you will have the option to schedule a free, 15 minute phone consultation. From there, if working together is the right therapeutic fit, we can schedule your first session.

  • Currently, we are in-network with Aetna, Cigna and Optum insurance plans. If you are out of network with these plans, please contact us for our direct-pay rates.

Sessions are paid for via the Alma Therapy Network with a card on file. We can change the card that's on file at any time.

  • For individual therapy, clients may schedule a 45 or 60 minute session.

Couples therapy sessions are 60 minutes.

  • We require 24 hour notice for appointment cancellation and rescheduling. Improper cancellations are subject to a fee. No-shows are also subject to a fee.

If you are more than 15 minutes late and you have not made contact to inform us you are running late, it will be considered a no-show and you will be charged the appropriate fee.

If we should have to cancel an appointment with you, we will contact you as soon as possible through your email. We will provide an option to reschedule your appointment at this time. This cancellation is at no cost or penalty to you.

  • Online therapy allows for more schedule flexibility for both the client and the therapist, as well as convenience and accessibility by eliminating geographical barriers.

Our services are exclusively offered online and hosted via Telehealth through a secure HIPAA compliant software platform.

  • We do not hold standing or recurring appointments. This means we cannot guarantee to reserve a spot for you every week at the same time and day of the week. Serving many individuals with varying schedules and demands makes it challenging to accommodate everyone's changing schedules.

We will make our best attempts to see you regularly.

  • It can be concerning feeling like things you say or do in therapy could "get out." Confidentiality is a priority. Everything you share in therapy is private, with some legal exceptions like safety concerns.

We can discuss these in detail during a consultation or a first session.

  • If you are an existing active client and experiencing a dangerous or life threatening emergency, psychiatric or medical, you should call 9-1-1 immediately and go to your nearest hospital or emergency service. Afterwards, you can provide our contact information to the care facility or point of contact, so that we can coordinate care with you and those involved.

Please note: We do not provide 24-7 on call services, inpatient, or acute outpatient treatment.

We can provide you with referrals during our phone consultation if we determine together that you need a different setting or higher level of care than we can provide.
